「フェルメール《真珠の耳飾りの少女》展　開催予定　（8/21～9/27　大阪中之島美術館）

2012年以来、14年ぶりとなる今回のフェルメール展では、あの「真珠の耳飾りの少女」（オランダ　マウリッツハイス美術館所蔵）が再来日します。この作品は現在、原則「門外不出」とされ、日本国内での展示は今回が最後となる可能性があります。その他、フェルメールの20代前半の作品とされる神話を題材とした「ディアナとニンフたち」も併せて展示されます。またヤン・ステーンの風俗画「老いが歌えば若きが笛吹く」など17世紀オランダ絵画の名品も展示される予定です。

Scheduled to Be Held (Aug. 21 – Sept. 27, Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka)

This upcoming Vermeer exhibition, the first in 14 years since 2012, will feature the return to Japan of the celebrated Girl with a Pearl Earring (from the collection of the Mauritshuis, The Netherlands). The painting is currently regarded as being, in principle, “not to be lent abroad,” and this may be the last opportunity to see it exhibited in Japan.

In addition, Diana and Her Nymphs, believed to be one of Vermeer’s early works from his early twenties and based on a mythological theme, will also be on display. The exhibition is further expected to include masterpieces of 17th-century Dutch painting, such as Jan Steen’s genre scene As the Old Sing, So Pipe the Young.
